An invitation to reality
Our preferences or dislikes are expressed in many ways; what we believe, our judgement about right or wrong, our principles and convictions, our likes or dislikes and many other issues. These preferences and dislikes either block or blur our view of reality. They are obstacles inhibiting us to keep in touch with our surroundings, impeding our contact with the world in which we live. When our sight is
blurred by thoughts we do not see our dear and near ones as they truly are.
Whether our thoughts are hopeful and expectant or to the contrary overflowing with disapproval and rejection makes no difference whatsoever. Positive or negative; in both cases we are not able to accept reality as it is.
Thoughts are like dark clouds making it difficult to shine our light brightly, preventing us to be
attentive, blocking our ability to accept things as they are; to understand without judgement, to be
patient, to join in with the pace of society, the rhythm of life, to forgive. Instead they stimulate you to let yourself be drawn in by the forces of anger or disappointment.
Imagine that we are able to view our children with an open mind and an unprejudiced eye; without expectancies, without putting the burden of our hope on their shoulders, without demands from which they later need to free themselves when they wish to make their own decisions.
Reality is a wide open field full of possibilities. In reality sadness and happiness go together, hand in hand. When we experience sadness in the field we feel relaxed and happy with no judgement involved. Experiencing happiness without judgement is possible when we give sadness the space that it needs.
Releasing our continual stream of thoughts does not mean that we will no longer be able to think, on the contrary it means that we free ourselves from the tyranny of our thoughts. It means that we no longer let ourselves be led by our thoughts. We control them rather than the other way around. We manage them, we let them come and go. In this way it will increase the possibility to view and
experience reality with and open eye, to feel and experience without the presence of misleading and diverting thoughts.
